USPS PS200 22 Pound Digital Scale

USPS ps200 postal scaleThis digital postal scale is very similar in look and in function to the previously reviewed PS110 scale. It’s a postage calculating scale that can weigh items from 0 to 22 pounds of weight, with a precision of within .1 ounce. However, this scale’s difference is that it doesn’t have postage calculating feature, which had its flaws on the previous scale.

The USPS PS200 scale comes with a tare function, meaning it will calibrate itself to 0 lbs weight when turned on. This is useful when weighing objects in a container. First you put the container on the scale and then turn it on. It will set the reading to 0 and allow you to weight your loose items.

The display is 7-segment LCD and easy to read. The only buttons on the scale are On/Tare and Off buttons. Other features of the scale are automatic shut-off function that turns off the scale after 6 minutes of no use to preserve power. The scale runs from AC power via the supplied 9V adapter, or from a 9V battery. The dimensions of the platform are 5.5 by 5 inches with a fold up top for weighing larger items.

Summarized features:

  • Convenient postal scale for weighing items between 0 and 20 pounds
  • 5.5-by-5-inch platform features fold-up top for weighing oversized pieces
  • Tare function resets “zero” weight so you can easily weigh loose items
  • Precise to within 0.1 of an ounce; easy-to-read 7-segment LCD display
  • Runs on AC adapter (included) or 9-volt battery (not included); 1-year warranty

USPS PS110 10lb Postal Scale

***Discountinued Product***

The USPS PS110 digital postal scale is ideal for small businesses or home offices that ship out a large quantity of mail each day. It can calculate the correct postage for items that weigh from 0 to 10 pounds. The weight is measured by using four single-strain gauges, and a load cell that is temperature-compensated. What that means, is that the scale has a precision of 0.1 lbs, so you won’t make a mistake with your postage. The size of weighing platform is 5.5 by 5 inches. The platform is made of ABS plastic and also includes a fold up top for weighing oversized items, such as mailing tubes and large envelopes.

The calculating function is the feature that separates this digital postal scale from many others. Besides weighing your item, the USPS PS110 will also calculate the postage based on the weight and shipping method (whether it’s parcel post, first class, priority, etc.). Most popular USPS postal rates are supported, for domestic routes and many international zones. Rates for Global Express Mail (Canada, Mexico, Japan, U.K. and China) are also provided by the scale, and also International Airmail Letterpost.

But the postage calculating system has its flaws. Some users have complained that the postage rates get outdated quickly, and the only way to update them is by replacing the postal rate chip. The chip can be very costly, in the range of 50$, so you might want to consider other options.

Other features of the scale are easy-to-read LCD display, a membrane keypad with nine keys, and a Tare function that will allow you to measure items in a container by resetting the zero weight of the scale with the container on it. Other characteristics are a mechanical overload protection in case there’s an item that is heavier than 10 pounds.

The main characteristics of USPS PS110 postal scale, from the manufacturer’s description:

  • Calculating postal scale determines postage for items between 0 and 10 pounds
  • 5.5-by-5-inch platform features fold-up top for weighing oversized pieces
  • Calculates postage for most popular USPS domestic and international shipping methods
  • Tare function resets “zero” weight so you can easily weigh loose items
  • 9-key membrane keypad; measures 5.5 x 2.25 x 7.75 inches (W x H x D); 1-year warranty
